Semi-continuous coater for the pharmaceutical industry
Continuous Coater - KOCO®
The KOCO® Tablet Coater is designed as a semi-continuous coater and is characterised by a high Throughput. The semi-continuous Coater - KOCO® ensures precise coating of tablets.
More about the highlights
In recent years, Continuous Manufacturing has become a very important topic for pharmaceutical suppliers, pharmaceutical companies and regulatory authorities worldwide. As a technology-driven machine manufacturer, L.B. Bohle is a pioneer in the field of Continuous Manufacturing and has been a leader in this segment for years. From individual systems to the complete QbCon® production line, L.B. Bohle offers its customers efficient continuous processes that optimise the production process. A highlight in the product portfolio of continuous machines is the semi-continuous Coater - KOCO®.
With the KOCO®, L.B. Bohle introduced the first semi-continuous coater for the pharmaceutical industry to the market back in 2011. The KOCO® is designed as a semi-continuous coater and is characterised by a high Throughput. The process machine is based on the proven, patented design of all L.B. Bohle Tablet Coaters.
The differences between continuous coaters and batch coaters
In contrast to conventional batch coaters, the KOCO® uses a feed of tablet cores through a product inlet opening on the top of the machine.
Continuous Coater - KOCO® - The advantages
-
Production capacity: 5-25 kg/h (KOCO® 25)
-
Nozzle arm with 6 nozzles
-
Separate feeding and unloading for fast product changes
-
Low space requirement
What is the KOCO® and what is it used for?
The KOCO® is a continuous coater from L.B. Bohle that was developed for the uniform coating of tablets in pharmaceutical production. It is particularly suitable for applications where high throughput rates and consistent product quality are required.
What advantages does the KOCO® offer compared to classic batch coaters?
The KOCO® impresses with its high efficiency, continuous material flow and reduced downtimes. With separate input and output units and the option of quick product changeovers, it increases productivity and reduces production costs at the same time.
How does the KOCO® contribute to product quality?
Thanks to the precise control and process technology, the KOCO ensures a uniform coating without coating losses. This minimises quality defects such as cracks in the film coating and significantly improves Process Safety.
Can the KOCO® also be integrated into automated production lines?
Yes, the KOCO® is ideal for integration into continuous production lines. In combination with systems such as the ROB 50 from L.B. Bohle, the entire material flow between the Tableting press and coater can be automated and monitored.
