In order to seamlessly connect to Continuous Wet Granulation, constant and continuous drying must be guaranteed. Until now, there were only dryers on the market that did not fulfil the requirement of continuous drying and only formed sub-batches.

With the continuous Fluidised Bed Dryer BCD, L.B. Bohle now enables continuous drying of granules for the first time. The results from the laboratory scale are easily scalable to the production scale for the pharmaceutical industry.
Continuously produced moist granules fall into the dryer gravimetrically and without any further necessary transport steps in order to be dried in a continuous process. The constant conveying of the moist granules from the inlet to the outlet of the dryer is achieved by a controllable movement. This ensures gentle and very uniform drying. The movement is so gentle that there is almost no back-mixing and all pellets (even of different sizes) are dried for the same length of time.
Innovative product filters guarantee a service life of days without having to interrupt the continuous granulation process. As a result, there is no loss of quality, even with the finest micronised drugs
The ability to use PAT makes this innovative Fluidised Bed Dryer the ideal tool for the continuous production of high-quality products on a laboratory and production scale. For example, PAT can be used for constant in-line determination of pellet moisture and for feedback control of the process.
Within the QbCon® 1 laboratory machine for throughputs of 0.25-2.5 kg/h or for production sizes of 25 kg/h and higher, the BCD is available in various sizes to make your production more efficient and of higher quality.

What makes the BCD Fluidised Bed Dryer unique on the market?
The BCD is the first dryer that enables truly continuous drying without the formation of sub-batches. Granulates are dried gently and evenly in a single pass, regardless of Particle Size or product type.
How is uniform drying ensured?
The controllable, gentle movement in the dryer ensures constant conveying without back-mixing, so that all granulates have the same dwell time and are dried evenly. Even sensitive or highly porous granulates are processed without the formation of fines.
What role does PAT play?
Process Analytical Technology (PAT) allows the pellet moisture to be measured in-line and the process to be controlled with feedback. The probes are only in contact with dry product, which prevents build-up and increases measurement accuracy.
For which applications and production sizes is the BCD suitable?
The BCD is available both in the QbCon® 1 laboratory machine (0.25-2.5 kg/h) and for production scales from 25 kg/h upwards. This makes it ideal for rapid development phases, efficient scale-ups and the continuous production of pharmaceutical products.
