Laboratory Coater for the pharmaceutical industry
Laboratory Coater - BFC 5
During film coating , the tablet cores are sprayed, mixed and dried. These three basic processes take place simultaneously and must be carefully coordinated in the process machine. In addition to production-sized systems, L.B. Bohle also offers laboratory-sized systems for Research & Development (R&D) and process optimisation.
More about the highlights
The BFC 5 Laboratory Coater is designed as a flexible stand-alone unit. The entire air technology as well as the electrical and control technology are integrated into the appliance.
The Laboratory Coater has a multi-panel visualisation with touch panel for convenient operation. The operating unit is attached directly to the coater. Commissioning is quick and uncomplicated; only an electrical connection and a compressed air supply are required.
The BFC 5 Laboratory Coater can be operated with one of two different drum sizes. The drums are changed manually. The smaller drum can be subdivided again with a cutting disc. This means even greater flexibility.
The Laboratory Coater can also beoptionally equipped with a mini drum. Manual cleaning of the Laboratory Coater is made easier by removing the drums. A transport trolley is included as standard for easy removal and transport of the drum.
The BFC 5 Laboratory Coater is designed for batch sizes from 2 to 13 litres and is therefore ideal for research & development and process optimisation.

The Laboratory Coater BFC 5 from L.B. Bohle offers maximum flexibility for Research & Development through the use of up to three different drum sizes, including a new mini drum for very small batches. Simple operation, optimised accessibility and efficient cleaning, supported by integrated status displays and software-controlled air regulation, guarantee optimum results. Thanks to the modular nozzle arm with up to four nozzles, a homogeneous and reproducible spraying result is achieved, even with demanding formulations. This enables the BFC 5 to transfer the results safely and efficiently to larger production batches.
What batch sizes is the BFC 5 suitable for?
The BFC 5 can be operated with up to three different drums and covers batch sizes from 0.5 to 13 litres; with the optional slotted mini drum, test batches from 150 g are even possible.
How does the BFC 5 support the development of new formulations?
Thanks to the flexible drum sizes and the scalable Process Parameters, results from very small batches can be reliably transferred to larger production quantities. Ideal for cost-intensive Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) or innovative approaches.
What characterises the spraying process with the BFC 5?
The modular nozzle arm enables the use of up to four nano nozzles, which are supplied individually via a mini pump head, ensuring a particularly homogeneous and reproducible spray pattern.
What advantages does the BFC 5 offer in terms of cleaning and operation?
With an enlarged door, integrated status lights, automatic air pressure control and three cleaning nozzles, the BFC 5 offers optimum accessibility, greater ease of use and fast, efficient cleaning.
