Single-Pot Granulator for the pharmaceutical industry
Single-Pot Granulator - VMA
Single-pot pelletising has been used in the pharmaceutical industry for decades. In single-pot granulation, the process steps of mixing, high-shear Wet Granulation and drying (vacuum drying, entrained gas drying, microwave drying) are combined in one container. L.B. Bohle's one-pot granulation range includes systems on a laboratory and production scale.
More about the highlights
The VMA product range comprises typical Single-Pot Granulators with agitator and chopper unit and a Top-Drive drive. Two agitators ensure the shearing effect and product loosening. They prevent the formation of lumps and produce high-quality granulates. The GMP-compliant process vessel with double casing is the centrepiece of the VMA.
The main units are integrated in the lid of the pelletising bowl (top drive).

L.B. Bohle supplies first-class granulation solutions for Wet Granulation such as the VMA Single Pot Granulator, BFS Fluid Bed Systems and BRC Dry Granulators. These technologies offer efficient, safe and environmentally friendly production processes, perfect for the manufacture of solid dosage forms in the pharmaceutical industry.
What is a Single-Pot Granulator and how does it work?
A Single-Pot Granulator combines the mixing, Wet Granulation and drying processes in a single container. With the VMA system from L.B. Bohle, drying takes place either via vacuum, trailing gas or microwave heat, which enables an efficient and closed batch process.
What advantages does the VMA series from L.B. Bohle offer?
The VMA granulation systems offer safe granulation in a closed system, are space-saving, energy-efficient and also suitable for active ingredient dosages of less than 1 %. The system also enables quick product changes, easy cleaning and effective solvent recovery.
For which areas of application is the Single-Pot Granulator VMA suitable?
The VMA series is designed for both laboratory and production scale and can also be used in potentially explosive atmospheres (hazardous areas). Batch sizes from 20 to 960 litres can be easily realised.
How is the pelletising process technically implemented in the VMA?
Two agitators in the top-drive system ensure an optimum shearing effect and prevent the formation of lumps. After granulation, the product is automatically discharged into an IBC container via a conical sieve (BTS 200). Recipe-controlled cleaning is fully automatic - for maximum efficiency and Process Safety.
