L.B. Bohle opens new plant for Continuous Manufacturing machines
In March 2022, the time had come: after a good year of construction, L.B. Bohle started production of the first system in the new Plant 4. With a continuous production system from the QbCon® series for the manufacture of tablets using Wet Granulation, the Bohle team had a comprehensive project waiting for them at the start of production.

In March 2022, the time had come: after a good year of construction, L.B. Bohle started production of the first system in the new Plant 4. The new plant is the company's third factory in Ennigerloh, Münsterland. L.B. Bohle also operates a production facility for handling components, mixers, mills and Sieving in Sassenberg.
The new plant, which has been built within sight of Plant 3, will focus exclusively on the production of continuous machines and systems. On the 12,000 m2 site, L.B. Bohle operates a 2,000 m2 production complex to the latest standards.
Special focus on Sustainability
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency were particularly emphasised in the new building. "The production facility was built in accordance with Energy Efficiency 55. This means that the building only requires 55 per cent as much energy as a comparable new building that achieves the maximum permissible value according to the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV)," explains Managing Director Tim Remmert.
By installing a photovoltaic system on the roof, energy is generated and also fed into the grid. "The entire production of the machines is powered by 100 per cent green electricity. Since this year, this also applies to all other locations," continues Remmert. The office heating in Plant 4 is supplied by state-of-the-art heat pump technology and L.B. Bohle relies exclusively on LED technology for its lighting. There are also sufficient (fast) charging points in the car park to charge electric cars.
Major project for the start of production
With a continuous production system from the QbCon® series for the manufacture of tablets using Wet Granulation, the Bohle team has an extensive project waiting for the start of production.
The complete system consists of a QbCon® 1 for continuous Wet Granulation and drying and a mixing and dosing unit, each of which is completely enclosed by an isolator from Franz Ziel GmbH, a BTS 100 series sieving unit, the XL 100 WipCon® tablet press from KORSCH AG and the semi-continuous KOCO® 25 coater. The system is fed by two automated HS 400 Lifting Columns.
"The investment in the new plant was exactly right, because it has given us the capacity for further company growth. Implementing the major Continuous Manufacturing project in the new plant is something special for the whole company," concludes Remmert.
